Hoyer Statement on the Retirement of Rep. Charlie Dent

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer released the following statement tonight after Rep. Charlie Dent announced that he will not run for reelection in 2018:

“Since his election to Congress in 2005, Rep. Charlie Dent has charted an independent course as a fighter on behalf of his constituents. He's spent his time in the House working to remind his colleagues on both sides of the aisle that we are here to find compromise, not contention. Charlie has demonstrated courage and conviction, and Members on both sides of the aisle will miss serving with him. I join in wishing him all the best in his next endeavors.”
