WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price:

"The resignation of Secretary Price was warranted. I urge the next HHS Secretary to commit to upholding the Affordable Care Act, and to promote and carry out not only the letter but the spirit of that law to ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care. I would also urge the next Secretary to join in a bipartisan effort to improve the Affordable Care Act so that it does, in fact, work as intended for every American. The next Secretary must also end the Department’s sabotage of the law, both by ensuring access to and information about the open enrollment process and by pledging to make the cost sharing reduction payments."
