Hoyer Statement on Reports that the Trump Administration is Sabotaging the Upcoming ACA Open Enrollment Period

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on reports that the Trump Administration is sabotaging the upcoming enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act:

"I am outraged by reports that the Department of Health and Human Services plans to shut down their website for 12 hours every Sunday, except for one, over the course of the six-week open enrollment period. This is a blatant attempt by the Administration to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and make it harder for Americans to enroll in a plan. I urge the Administration to take steps to ensure the website remains available throughout this critical period. They ought not forget that they are responsible for our health care system and the American people will hold them accountable for this and their other efforts to sabotage the law."
