Hoyer Statement on Ramadan

“This Sunday, Muslims in America and across the world will begin observing the month of Ramadan with fasting and prayer in commemoration of the Quran’s revelation.  Each evening after nightfall, families and communities across our nation will gather for iftar mealsto break the fast, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy the blessings of freedom that keep America great.  Muslim-Americans make our country stronger and safer every day, helping to grow our economy, making discoveries in the sciences, contributing to the arts, serving in government, and wearing the uniform of our nation in defense of our security and way of life.  I join in wishing America’s Muslim communities, including those in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District, a ‘Ramadan Mubarak’ – a blessed month filled with meaning and reflection.”
