WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after President Trump said that he would 'love to see a shutdown':
"The fact that the President is, once again, advocating for a shutdown is irresponsible and reckless. It is also not the kind of leadership that the American people expect from the President of the United States. We are over four months into the fiscal year, and it is past time for Republicans to finalize an agreement with Democrats to raise the budget caps and fund the government for the remainder of the fiscal year. The American people expect us to do our jobs - not threaten a shutdown that would hurt them, their families, and our economy."
