Hoyer Statement on President Trump's Latest Muslim Ban

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the new travel ban issued by the Trump Administration:

"Last night, the Trump Administration issued their third attempt at a travel ban, and this one is no better than the previous iterations. While this version adds new countries and more complicated formulas, it appears that those changes are merely an attempt to hide this travel ban’s true aim: to single out certain people – Muslims – and ban them from coming to our country. As we review this new ban, I am concerned that it is merely an effort to reverse-engineer the original Muslim ban – which was clearly unconstitutional – in order to try to develop a ban that might stand up in court.  This travel ban, like the ones that came before it, will not make Americans safer or address the very serious threats from terrorism that continue to challenge us.”
