Hoyer Statement on the Passing of Zbigniew Brzezinski

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on the passing of former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski: 

"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Zbigniew Brzezinski, an outstanding public servant and extraordinary intellect. He was pivotal in laying the groundwork for the Camp David accords and normalizing relations with China during the Carter Administration, and he remained a leader in foreign policy as he worked to promote peace and advance human rights in the years that followed. He was instrumental to U.S. foreign policy for decades, for which we owe him a great deal of gratitude. I offer my condolences to his wife, Emilie, as well as their children, Ian, Mark, and Mika."
