WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the passing of Robert McGlotten:

“I join in offering condolences on the passing of my friend Robert McGlotten.  Bob was an outspoken leader for the working men and women in this country, serving the AFL-CIO for nearly three decades and representing the interests of millions of American workers.  Highly recognized for his years of distinguished service, Bob also served as a board member for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and was held in high esteem by many Members of Congress, myself included.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran and served for a time as a special assistant to then-Secretary of Labor Peter Brennan.  His wife, Cheryl, and the entire McGlotten family are in my thoughts today, and I join in thanking Bob for his extraordinary service to labor, to the Congressional Black Caucus, and to our country.”
