WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after it was announced that the President-Elect intends to nominate Andrew Puzder as Secretary of Labor:
“Working Americans should be disappointed by President-Elect Trump’s choice for Secretary of Labor. In tapping Andrew Puzder, he has chosen someone who does not have a strong track record of standing up for workers. The individual in this position is responsible for ensuring that working conditions are safe, that hiring practices are fair, and that workers get the pay and benefits they should earn. This choice, along with other cabinet nominations, shows clearly that Donald Trump and Republicans have no interest in improving the lives of American workers. House Democrats will do everything in our power to ensure that those who work to make our economy strong get the fair share they deserve of the prosperity they create.”
