WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer released the following statement today in recognition of International Women’s Day:
"On International Women's Day, we celebrate the ongoing movement to secure full equality for women and girls around the world. We've come a long way, but there is still much work to be done to ensure that every girl has access to education, health care, and a safe home as she grows up. Once she does, there must be economic opportunities for her to pursue and choices available to her about how she wishes to live her life. Here at home that means standing up for women's health care choices, working to achieve paid family leave, and closing the wage gap. These must be our mission as we rededicate ourselves to the goals of International Women's Day, and as a father of three daughters I am proud to be a part of the movement to achieve full equality and opportunity for every woman.”
