WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement this evening after the House passed a seven-day continuing resolution to keep the Department of Homeland Security open:
“Tonight I voted for a seven-day continuing resolution to keep the Department of Homeland Security open to allow time for the House to pass the Senate's full-year funding bill next week. After a strong bipartisan majority in the Senate passed legislation that provides funding to DHS for the remainder of the fiscal year without poison pills, it is time for the House to follow suit and ensure that the Department in charge of our nation's security has the funding, resources, and certainty it needs to keep the American people safe.”
