WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement tonight on House passage of S.1595, the Hizballah International Financing Prevention Amendments Act of 2018, as amended:
“I am pleased the House passed legislation tonight that imposes additional sanctions on entities supporting the terror organization Hezbollah. Supplied by Iran with deadly rockets, Hezbollah threatens communities in northern Israel and is responsible for heinous terror attacks against civilians. In Syria, it has allied itself with the murderous regime of Bashar al-Assad, further destabilizing that country and contributing to the displacement of millions of refugees. Congress must continue to engage in efforts to disrupt Hezbollah’s financing while strongly supporting our ally Israel through closer security cooperation. I thank Ranking Member Engel and Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee for their hard work on this bipartisan resolution.”
