WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the failure of the GOP Farm Bill vote on the House Floor:
"Today's farm bill vote shows how deeply divided House Republicans continue to be. The annual farm bill has traditionally been bipartisan, and Democrats and Republicans have worked together to provide certainty to family farms while supporting programs that combat hunger. Instead, this year's farm bill has fallen victim to the partisanship and dysfunction that has characterized this Republican Majority, which cannot govern. I now urge Republicans to abandon this proposal and come back to the table to work with Democrats on a real bipartisan farm bill that can secure the votes to pass."
