WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today recognizing Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan:
“All across America tonight, Muslim families and communities will gather to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and mark the conclusion of Ramadan. After a month of prayer and reflection, many will be joined at interfaith gatherings by their friends and neighbors, joining a long tradition in this country of people coming together to learn about others’ faiths and traditions and share their own, weaving our American quilt ever tighter in the process. Even since before our independence, Muslim-Americans have always played a role in building and shaping our nation and making it stronger. On this Eid-al-Fitr, as I join in wishing celebrants an Eid Mubarak, I pray that our country will continue to grow stronger from the blessing of our diversity – and the richness that Muslim-American communities add to it.”
