WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after House and Senate Democrats, led by the DPCC and the Democracy Reform Task Force, released “A Better Deal for Our Democracy: Fixing our Broken Political System and Returning to a Government Of, By, and For the People:”
“Americans deserve to have a government that works for them, one that is transparent and trustworthy, one that can be a force for good in their lives. And they deserve a better deal than what Republicans have given them, which is why Democrats are focused on fixing our broken political system, reducing the outsized influence of big money in our politics, ending the culture of corruption present in the Trump Administration, and renewing Americans’ faith in their government.
“I commend Rep. John Sarbanes and others who have led the charge to make restoring our democracy a central plank in Democrats’ better deal for the American people. If our democracy is to work as intended, it must be open, accessible, and responsive to the people it serves.”
