Hoyer Statement on Comments by White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on comments made by White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer today regarding the Holocaust:

"Sean Spicer's comments today are indicative of the extraordinary lack of knowledge, perspective, and sensitivity that the Trump Administration has brought to Washington. 

"It is incomprehensible that a spokesman for the President of the United States of America would be so extraordinarily ill-informed and insensitive to make a statement that is so factually incorrect and akin to comments made by Holocaust deniers. 

"Spicer is correct in saying his comments were inappropriate, but he needs to be fired immediately. The President must denounce these comments and apologize to the American people."
