Hoyer Statement on Colorado Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today:

"Yesterday's shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs was a deplorable act of violence that we cannot continue to allow to happen in our nation again and again. My thoughts are with the families of Officer Garrett Swasey, who died in the line of duty while protecting others, and the two civilians killed.

"Americans should not have to live in fear as they go about their daily lives, whether they're going to a health clinic, to school, or to the movies. It is long past time for Congress to take real, meaningful action to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them. It is the least we can do to honor those we've lost."
