WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Congressional Budget Office released an analysis of Senate Republicans' "skinny repeal" proposal that would repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act:

“The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has now concluded that Senator McConnell’s so-called ‘skinny repeal’ plan is not as lean as it had been made out to be.  It would still kick 16 million Americans off their coverage and increase health care costs for millions more.  This repeal charade must come to an end.  The American people are benefitting from the Affordable Care Act and do not want to see its benefits taken away.  I urge Republicans to cease this zealous obsession with repeal for repeal’s sake and work with Democrats on improvements to the law that stabilize markets and bring costs down for consumers.”
