WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on Arkansas' discriminatory law that targets LGBT Americans:

"I am deeply troubled and concerned by the passage of another discriminatory law, this time in Arkansas, similar to the one enacted in Indiana last week, which is expected to permit businesses to refuse service to LGBT Americans and their families. Such laws are wrong and stand contrary to the very fabric of our nation's character as a beacon of liberty and a land of equal opportunity. I strongly urge Governor Hutchinson to veto this bill, and I call on state legislatures to ensure that LGBT Americans and their families are not subjected to discrimination in any state of our union."
