WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in response to the release of Speaker Ryan and House Republicans’ regulatory agenda, the third plank of their #WrongWay agenda:

“Once again, House Republicans are pretending that partisan, failed ideas can somehow be repackaged into something new. The agenda they unveiled today amounts to more of the same policies we’ve seen them put forward since 2010 – undoing the critical Wall Street reforms that protect consumers from predatory practices, ending net neutrality, giving away federal lands, and promoting the development of fossil fuels without regard to carbon pollution.

“The House has already wasted a significant amount of time debating partisan legislation that would harm our environment, endanger public health, and make our economy less stable. The key to helping businesses grow is not a regime of radical deregulation but a concerted effort to provide certainty through fiscally sustainable budgeting, bipartisan tax reform, and investments to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. That’s what the House ought to be working on, and Democrats will continue to work to achieve those objectives.”
