Hoyer: Graham-Cassidy TrumpCare Bill Is An Act of Desperation

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Senate Republicans held a press conference to discuss their latest version of TrumpCare:

“Senate Republicans’ sudden embrace of the disastrous Graham-Cassidy TrumpCare bill is an act of desperation.  In July, they failed to convince the American people or even all of their own Republican colleagues to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with legislation that would kick millions of Americans off their coverage, increase premiums, make those with pre-existing conditions uninsurable, and impose an age tax on older Americans.  Now, they are pursuing a TrumpCare bill that is even worse for American families and their health care providers. 

“I urge Republican leaders to abandon this desperate plan to take away Americans’ access to affordable health care. Instead, they ought to allow Senators Murray and Alexander to continue their work to achieve bipartisanconsensus on legislation to stabilize the markets and improve access to health care for all Americans.”
