Hoyer Discusses the GOP Tax Scam on Bloomberg TV

“They say this is a tax cut bill, and point of fact, it raises taxes on 36 million middle-income families, working families in this country. It explodes the deficit by $1.5 trillion, and the people who are going to pay off that deficit are our children. So from that standpoint, this is not a good bill. It lost 26 to nothing in the Senate [Finance Committee]. I hope it fails, and, very frankly, if we do tax reform, we ought to do it in a bipartisan fashion, which is what we did 1986. We ought to have hearings, we ought to have witnesses, we ought to let the American public have an opportunity to come in and say how this is going to affect them. This bill is not a good bill for America, it's not a good bill for our citizens.”
