WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) joined MSNBC's "For The Record with Greta" to discuss former FBI Director Comey's hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee today and Congressional action on Russian sanctions. Below are excerpts from the interview and a link to the video:

"We need to keep in mind there are really two separate issues here. One is, what did the Russians do, who did they do it with, how were they trying to undermine our democracy and western democracies generally? That was a critically important question. And then of course, the specific, what did the President know, when did he know it, what has he said? Did he try to convince the FBI Director to drop interest in Flynn? That's obviously another part of the equation. And Greta, I think there are going to be a lot of shoes yet to drop."

"There is no doubt [Putin] has the intent to undermine Western democracies. He's interfered in almost every European election, certainly interfered in the French election, although Marine Le Pen did not win, who, obviously, was his choice. And the Western countries, the democracies, he wants to undermine Western democracy and their ideals."

"We are considering sanctions now, additional sanctions for Russia right now. And as a matter of fact, it is being discussed in the Senate."
