How is the GOP’s whip count going?
All of the time that Vice President Pence has been spending on the House side doesn’t seem to be yielding the results that GOP leaders are looking for on TrumpCare. While the President and Speaker Ryan are misleading Americans about what the bill does, it’s clear many of their Members are nervous that taking away protections for people with pre-existing conditions won’t go over well with their constituents:
Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI): “I told the leadership I cannot support the bill with this provision in it… I don’t know how it all will play out, but I know there are a good number of us that have raised real red flags.”
Rep.Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL): Called TrumpCare’s coverage for pre-existing conditions coverage "in name only."
Rep. Don Young (R-AK): Said of TrumpCare: "I think it hurts Alaska."
Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC): “I don't see a road to passage at this point.”
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA): When asked about his position on the revised TrumpCare bill, he told reporters: "None of your business.”
