Since the beginning of the 117th Congress, House Democrats have taken action on legislation that puts People Over Politics to lower costs, create better-paying jobs, and build safer communities across America:

LOWER COSTS
  • The recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act takes action on soaring prescription drug costs, capping out-of-pocket costs for millions of American seniors at $2,000 annually. The law also caps monthly insulin costs for Medicare recipients at $35. The law additionally empowers Medicare to negotiate on prescription drug prices for high-cost single-source drugs, which experts estimate could save Americans more than $100 billion over the next decade. The law also reduces health care costs for millions of working families through the extension of Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, ensuring more than 3 million Americans retain their health care coverage.
  • The Inflation Reduction Act will additionally lower annual energy costs for consumers by an estimated $500 to $1,000 through home energy rebate programs and consumer tax credits that will help Americans make their homes more energy efficient.
BETTER-PAYING JOBS
  • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, enacted in November 2021, is a historic infrastructure package that is estimated to create nearly 1.5 million jobs annually throughout the next decade. It expands economic opportunity for Americans across the country by repairing and modernizing our nation’s infrastructure while turbocharging our clean energy economy.
  • The CHIPS and Science Act, signed into law by President Biden this August, will bolster our domestic manufacturing sector and create good-paying manufacturing jobs in communities across America. The law additionally creates workforce training opportunities for Americans and authorizes new and expanded investments in STEM education for America’s students and workers.
  • The Inflation Reduction Act will create millions of clean energy jobs and tackle the climate crisis by expanding tax credits for electric vehicles, and investing in new green technology.
SAFER COMMUNITIES
  • The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, signed into law in June 2022, takes action to reduce the threat of gun violence across America. It includes provisions that support state crisis intervention orders, imposes penalties for illegal “straw purchasing” of firearms, and enhances protections for survivors of domestic violence.
While extreme MAGA Republicans propose legislation that would curtail Americans’ constitutional rights, House Democrats are continuing to advance common-sense legislation that puts the needs of the American People Over Politics.
