FLOOR SCHEDULE UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 27, 2020
FLOOR UPDATE:
"On Monday, the House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for Morning Hour debate and 10:00 a.m. for legislative business, with first votes of the week are expected to occur at 12:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, the House will not be in session as we pay respect to Congressman John Lewis while he lies in state.
On Wednesday, the House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for Morning hour debate and 10:00 a.m. for Legislative business.
On Thursday, the House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for Morning hour debate and 10:00 a.m. for Legislative business. Members are advised that votes on Thursday will be postponed until 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, the House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for legislative business. Members are advised that last votes could occur later than 3:00 p.m.
The House will consider several bills under suspension of the Rules. including H.R. 7575, The Water Resources and Development Act of 2020. A complete list of Suspension bills will be announced by the close of business today.
The House will considerH.R. 7027, the Child Care Is Essential Act. This bill would create a $50 billion Child Care Stabilization Fund within the existing Child Care and Development Block Grant program. This would immediately address the problems child care providers have in staying open and covering their increased operating costs with limited revenue during the pandemic.
In addition, the House will consider H.R. 7327, the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act. This bill would expand the availability of child care by providing tax relief to families, providers, and employers; significantly increasing funds for the Child Care Entitlement to States program; providing funds to improve child care safety and infrastructure and ensure dependent care for essential workers during the pandemic; and recognizing all child care workers as essential.
Additionally, the House will consider H.R. 7617, the Defense, CJS, Energy and Water, Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, Labor–HHS, THUD FY 2021 Appropriations bill.
Members are advised that additional legislative items are possible.
Lastly, Members are further advised that conversations are ongoing regarding additional coronavirus relief legislation. Members should keep their schedules flexible for the week of August 3, 2020. Further information regarding the timing of a coronavirus relief bill will be announced as soon as it is available."
