Fact or Fiction: Republicans Support Equal Pay

FACT: Last night, Republican Senators blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act for the fourth time this year. From The Hill:

“Senate Republicans on Monday blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill that Democrats are pushing as part of their message to women...”

“Republicans had blocked the same bill earlier this year in a 53-44 vote.”

“The Paycheck Fairness Act is part of Democrats’ ‘Fair Shot’ agenda that is meant to draw a contrast with the GOP... The Senate is also expected to vote on raising the minimum wage and allowing students to refinance their loans, all measures that have already failed this year.”

FICTION:

Just because House Republicans say they are for equal pay doesn’t make it true. Despite the fact that 74% of Americans support taking action to ensure equal pay, Senate Republicans have blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act multiple times and House Republicans won’t even allow a vote on it. Unfortunately for them, they aren’t fooling anyone.
