Democrats Oppose GOP Budget That Ends Medicare Guarantee, Hurts Economy, Urge GOP to Take Up Bipartisan Senate Highway Bill
MESSAGE FROM THE DEMOCRATIC WHIP
This week, House Republicans passed their budget that ends the Medicare guarantee, gives tax cuts to the wealthy, and puts our economy and jobs at risk by slashing investments in education, innovation, and infrastructure. The Republican budget makes the wrong choices and places the burden of deficit reduction on seniors, the middle class, working families, and the most vulnerable. Democrats, on the other hand, put forward a budget that preserves the Medicare guarantee, invests in a strong economy and job creation, reduces the deficit in a balanced way, and moves us toward fiscal soundness.
House Republicans also refused to take up a bipartisan transportation bill passed by the Senate. Instead, we passed a 90 day extension. Since House Republicans have not been able to agree among themselves on a long-term solution, I continue to urge them to pass the bipartisan Senate bill when we return from the district work period so that we can give businesses the certainty they need and support job creation.
Sincerely yours,

STENY H. HOYER
