The GOP Leadership has announced the following schedule for Wednesday, December 3: The House will meet at 12:00 p.m. for legislative business. The House is expected to begin consideration of H.R. 5771 – Tax Increase Prevention Act (Rep. Camp – Ways and Means) (Subject to Rule). The House is also expected to begin consideration of H.R. 647 – ABLE Act (Rep. Crenshaw – Ways and Means/Energy and Commerce) (Subject to a Rule). Additionally, the House is expected to consider bills under suspension of the Rules.

Congress must vote to reauthorize TRIA by the end of the year or the program shuts down. ‘We respectfully urge you to schedule action on a multi-year extension immediately,’ the lawmakers wrote in the letter sent to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Monday obtained first by The Hill. The letter comes as Tea Partyers, led by House Financial Services Committee chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), have pushed for reforms to the program, which allows the government to front the costs after a catastrophic attack… Hensarling has indicated that a short-term, six- to nine- month TRIA extension might be necessary in lawmakers can't agree to a reauthorization deal with reforms… But the business community is balking at such a notion. And the 45 GOPers who signed Fincher's letter made that case to leadership. ‘Businesses with terrorism coverage are being told that their coverage will end if Congress fails to act, causing the sort of uncertainty that hurts economic growth,’ the lawmakers wrote.
