H.Res. 240– Rule providing for consideration of H.R. 1343– Encouraging Employee Ownership Act of 2017 (Rep. Hultgren – Financial Services) (One hour of debate). TheRules Committee has recommended a structured Rule that provides for one hour of general debate equally divided and controlled by the Chair and Ranking Member of the Committee on Financial Services. The Rule provides for consideration of 1 amendment, debatable for 10 minutes, equally controlled by the proponent and opponent of the amendment. The Rule allows one motion to recommit, with or without instructions, and waives all points of order against the legislation. Members are urged to VOTE NO.

H.R. 1343– Encouraging Employee Ownership Act of 2017 (Rep. Hultgren – Financial Services). This bill would increase from $5 million to $10 million the amount in which a private company can compensate employees in stock per year, while later indexing that amount to inflation, without having to provide the employees with certain disclosures.
The Rule makes in order 1 amendment, debatable for 10 minutes, equally divided between the offeror and an opponent. The amendment is:
Rep. Polis Amendment. Requires the GAO to report to Congress one year after date of enactment the impact of the legislation on employee ownership.
