Can’t make it up.
It takes some nerve to vote to add $1.7 trillion to the national debt and then turn around and say we really need to get a handle on the debt and the deficit. But that’s exactly what Speaker Ryan did today. According to the Washington Post, Speaker Ryan suggested in a radio interview that his next move is slashing Medicare benefits:
“We're going to have to get back next year at entitlement reform, which is how you tackle the debt and the deficit... Frankly, it's the health care entitlements that are the big drivers of our debt, so we spend more time on the health care entitlements — because that's really where the problem lies, fiscally speaking.”
You know what really doesn’t help the debt and deficit, Speaker Ryan? A $1.7 trillion dollar hole in the debt, courtesy of the GOP tax scam. Something tells us that raising taxes on the middle class and slashing Medicare to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy isn’t going to go over well or improve those dismal poll numbers.
