About that parade...

ICYMI, OMB Director Mick Mulvaney told the House Budget Committee yesterday that the military parade requested by President Trump would cost taxpayers up to $30 million. While we agree that we should honor our men and women in uniform, a Soviet Union-style parade isn’t the way to do it. Here’s a look at how that money could be put to use in serious efforts to strengthen the safety and well-being of the American people:
  • Provide the National Guard with over 100 Humvees ambulances, OR
  • Heat 100,000 homes in the winter months through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, OR
  • Fund more than a dozen community health centers for a year, OR
  • Nearly double the amount of State Department funding to address human trafficking globally, OR
  • Forgive student debt for nearly 6,000 students, OR
  • Allow the Centers for Disease Control to give 1.9 million adult flu shots, or 420,000 pediatric measles vaccinations, OR
  • Restore funding for key clean air programs in the science and technology program at the EPA, which Trump slashed in his budget.
