2017 Member Online All-Star Competition: Most Viral Posts; Top Graphic, Video, & Constituent Services Post Finalists—Vote For Your Favorite Now

The Democratic Whip Office’s eighth annual Member Online All-Star Competition recently came to a close. It was a notable success, with House Democrats collectively gaining over half a million new social media followers over three weeks.
At the next Whip meeting of House Democrats, a competition highlights video will be presented and trophies will be awarded to the Overall MVP Rep. Adam Schiff (CA-28) and Freshman MVP Rep. Anthony Brown (MD-04), as well as trophies for the creative category awards listed below.
Thanks to the many offices that created and nominated impressive work in each of these areas. Everyone is encouraged to vote for your favorites by sharing or liking them on Facebook (links below) by Tuesday night at midnight ET.
MOST VIRAL POST AWARDs
To determine this award, the Whip’s office divides the total reach of a given post by the total number of followers a Member has. This year had so many impressively viral posts, we are awarding three Most Viral Post awards:
- Rep. Gerry Connolly (VA-11)"won the internet" according to the Washington Post with his timely fake Time magazine cover that boasted of Connolly's legislative achievements while mocking President Trump's dishonesty. The post reached 1.1 million people on Twitter, compared to Connolly’s 27,000 followers.
- Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-33)used cartoonish humor to remind President Trump who our allies and our adversaries are before his trip to Europe. The post reach 2.1 million people on Twitter, compared to Lieu’s 45,000 followers.
- Rep. Brad Sherman (CA-30) unsurprisingly caught fire online when he introduced articles of impeachment. The post reached over 3 million people on Facebook, compared to Sherman’s 21,000 followers.

- Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08) and Rep. John Delaney (MD-06)held a Facebook Live in the backseat of a moving car.
